Frequently Asked Questions
What is hot water pressure washing? ▼
Hot water pressure washing uses water heated to high temperatures -- in our case up to 180 degrees Fahrenheit -- combined with high-pressure delivery to clean surfaces. The heat breaks down grease, oil, mold, and biofilm at the molecular level, making it far more effective than cold water on tough stains and contamination.
Why does hot water clean better than cold water? ▼
Heat accelerates the chemical reactions that break apart grease and oil molecules -- a process called emulsification. It also lowers the surface tension of water so it penetrates into concrete pores more effectively. Think of it like washing greasy dishes: hot water dissolves the grease; cold water just moves it around. The same principle applies at 180 degrees on a driveway or commercial surface.
Can hot water pressure washing remove oil stains from concrete? ▼
Hot water is significantly more effective than cold water at removing oil stains from concrete. The heat emulsifies petroleum-based compounds that cold water cannot break down. For deep, long-set stains we may apply a biodegradable degreaser as a pre-treatment in combination with the hot water wash to maximize results. Results will vary depending on how long the stain has been there and how deep it has penetrated.
Is hot water pressure washing safe for my driveway or concrete? ▼
Yes, when used correctly. Hot water at the right pressure is safe for concrete, brick, pavers, and most hard surfaces. Our team adjusts temperature and pressure settings based on the surface type and its condition. We do not use hot water on vinyl siding, painted wood, or delicate surfaces -- those get our soft wash system instead.
Do you use chemicals with the hot water system? ▼
For most jobs we do not need to. The combination of 180-degree heat and high pressure does the work without degreasers. For particularly stubborn grease, heavily contaminated commercial surfaces, or dumpster pads we may apply a biodegradable pre-treatment degreaser -- but hot water dramatically reduces the amount of chemical needed compared to cold water cleaning.
What is the difference between hot water pressure washing and soft washing? ▼
Hot water pressure washing uses high temperature and high pressure and is best for hard surfaces like concrete, driveways, garage floors, and commercial areas -- especially where grease and oil are present. Soft washing uses low pressure with a cleaning solution and is designed for house siding, roofs, and surfaces that could be damaged by high pressure. We use both methods depending on what the job requires.
How much does hot water pressure washing cost in Madison or Athens, GA? ▼
Most residential driveway and surface cleaning jobs run between $100 and $300 depending on size, staining, and surface type. Commercial jobs are quoted individually. All estimates are free and usually provided same day -- call or text us at 706-474-9112.
